Duration: 16 weeks per semester.

The Prophet said, “Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that “Alif, Laam, Meem” is a letter, rather I am saying that “Alif” is a letter, “laam” is a letter and “meem” is a letter.” [At-Tirmidhi]

This course is designed for adults only. 

Beginner Level

This level is the foundation step towards proficient Quránic recitation. Students will be able to identify the Arabic Alphabet and join them together to flow into sentences. On completion of this level, students will be able to read the Qur'an with simple Tajweed rules.

Intermediate Level

Students will be reading directly from the Qur'an and will develop a  much closer relationship with Qurán. On completion of this level, students will be confident in reading Qur'an out loud fluently with basic Tajweed rules.

Advance Level

Students will learn and master advance Tajweed rules.

History of Centre

Two brothers noticed the need for Tajweed classes for the Muslims living around the Blacktown area founded Abdullah ibn Masud Centre in 2009. From its humble beginners of just a handful of students, the centre has now grown to cater for well over 60 students as well as classes for sisters thought by volunteer teachers' dedication of teaching sisters in our community this vital subject . During this time, the centre has been able to produce numerous advanced students, and with the help of Allah (swt, have taken many students from no reading experience to comfortable reading of the Quran. In Addition, the centre has also produced numerous qualified teachers. 

This course is presented by Abdullah ibn Masud Centre and available for all brothers and sisters in the community.

As part of our ongoing commitment to education, tajweed and fiqh classes are also available to sisters in Dari and English at the below times:

  • Tajweed classes in Dari 9.30am to 10.30 am every Friday
  • Seerah classes in Dari 10.30am to 11.30 am every Friday
  • Fiqh classes in Dari 11.30am to 12.30pm every Friday
  • Seerah and fiqh classes in English on every 2nd Friday night
